By 1975 American electronics firms had pushed LED watches down to pocket money prices, and the bottom fell out of the digital market almost as fast as it had appeared. Fortunes were made and lost inside three years.
Mechanical watches from 1975 were made by companies under real pressure, which is part of why the survivors are worth having. They had to be good.
