Birth year watches
Watches made in 1974.
Casio made its first watch in 1974, the Casiotron, with a calendar that knew the length of every month without being told. The company had been building calculators, and it treated a watch as a computing problem rather than a jewellery one.
That thinking runs through everything that followed. A mechanical watch from 1974 was made by an industry already being outflanked.
