Vacheron Constantin answered the Royal Oak and the Nautilus with the 222 in 1977, completing the set of integrated bracelet sports watches that collectors chase today.
At the other end of the market quartz had won outright. A 1977 watch bought by an ordinary person was almost certainly quartz, thin, and more accurate than anything their parents had owned.
