Birth year watches
Watches made in 1973.
Seiko released a six digit LCD quartz watch in 1973, and the digital watch stopped being an experiment. Numbers replaced hands on a great many wrists over the next few years.
For the Swiss, 1973 was the year the ground moved. A mechanical watch made that year was competing, for the first time, against something cheaper that kept better time.
