The 2002 watch is a solid, unpretentious thing: steel, quartz or automatic, water resistant to 50 or 100 metres, made to be worn without ceremony.

Two decades on, these have crossed from second hand into vintage, but they still behave like modern watches. For a first vintage piece that needs no special care, this is the sweet spot.
