The first iPhone appeared in 2007, and the argument about whether anyone still needed a wristwatch began in earnest. The watch survived it by becoming something you wear on purpose rather than out of necessity.

A 2007 watch was made just before that shift. It was still sold as a useful object, and it usually still works like one.
