Rolex introduced its ceramic bezel in 2005, and within a few years the scratched aluminium bezel insert was on its way out across the whole industry.

Elsewhere 2005 was the height of the large watch: 42mm and up, thick, and often with a great deal happening on the dial. There are also plenty of restrained pieces from this year for anyone who prefers them.
