Cases started growing again around 1996. Thirty six millimetres began to look small, and the industry drifted towards the larger proportions that dominated the following decade.
Mechanical watchmaking was also quietly recovering. A 1996 automatic was no longer an anachronism, it was becoming a choice people made deliberately.
