Casio launched Baby-G in 1994, taking the shock resistant construction of the G-Shock and building it for smaller wrists. It became the watch of a generation of teenagers.

1994 is a good year to buy from because the watches are recent enough to have survived well. Movements from this period are often still original and still running.
