What the Australian-dollar price includes
Visitors from Australia see every watch priced in Australian dollars, and that figure includes tracked, insured shipping from London. For an order under AU$1,000 there is nothing else to pay: no duty, no GST, no carrier fee. The price on the page is the price on your card statement and the parcel is simply delivered.
Above AU$1,000 the position changes. Duty and GST are assessed by Australian customs on the value of the order plus postage and collected on delivery. Where the value is
Japanese watches first. Seiko's 1970s and 1980s automatics are the best-value mechanical watches in the world at this price, and the UK has them in quantity. A clean Seiko 5 or a 6309 sports model is a daily wearer with decades left in it, and it is usually well under A$500 delivered.
Then the Swiss makers that never carried a luxury premium. Tissot and Certina from the 1960s and 1970s used movements of real quality and are now some of the most under-priced watches in the market. Raymond Weil and Gucci from the 1980s and 1990s round out the dress and fashion end. Between A$500 and A$1,000 you can expect a proper Swiss automatic in good condition; occasionally an Omega appears at the top of that range.
Condition and testing
Every watch is individually inspected, tested and photographed in natural light before it is listed. Quartz pieces get a fresh battery; mechanical pieces are wound and checked. We grade honestly from Fair to Mint, and anything that needs attention is stated in the listing. If you want more photographs of a particular area, ask.
Delivery time and returns
Orders placed before 2pm London time on a business day usually leave the same day, fully tracked and insured. Delivery to Australia is typically five to ten business days from dispatch. A 14-day returns window runs from the day of delivery and applies to Australian orders exactly as it does to UK ones.
