Can I swim or dive with a vintage diver watch?
Assume not, unless the watch has been recently serviced, resealed and pressure tested, and the listing says so explicitly. Original gaskets harden with age, and a depth rating stamped on a case back decades ago tells you what the watch could do when new, not what it can do now.
What does 200m on the dial actually mean?
It is the pressure the case was rated to withstand in testing when new, not a diving depth. It was never a promise about a watch several decades later, and on any vintage piece it should be read as a description of how the watch was originally built rather than a current capability.
Why is this collection smaller than the others?
Because good vintage divers are harder to source than dress or quartz pieces, and we would rather list a handful we are confident in than pad the collection out. It changes regularly, so it is worth checking back, and we can look out for a particular reference on your behalf.
