What the Gucci 6400L is
The 6400L is the late-1990s Gucci ladies' watch with a square case and the horsebit-link bracelet, Gucci's signature borrowed from its loafers. Dials are mother-of-pearl or black, cases gold-tone or steel, and the movement is Swiss quartz. The bracelet is the point of the watch and also the part that shows wear, so check the links and clasp in the photographs.
What to check on a vintage Gucci
Gucci's watches of the 1980s and 1990s were made in Switzerland by specialist partners, so the first thing to look for is the case-back: the reference number, "Swiss made" and a serial should all be stamped cleanly, not printed. Plating wears first on the bangle hinge, the case edges and the bracelet clasp, so look there for brassing before anywhere else. Dials should be crisp with even printing; a smudged logo or misaligned index is a warning sign.
Every example we sell is inspected, tested and photographed in natural light before it is listed, with any wear described in the listing rather than left for you to find. A fresh battery is fitted to each quartz piece.
The 2 examples we have handled have been priced between £200 and £330. Condition makes the difference: an unpolished case, a crisp original dial and the original box all move a piece towards the top of that range. We currently have 1 available from £330.
Is the Gucci 6400L available to buy?
Yes. One example is in stock now, inspected and photographed in London, with free UK delivery and 14-day returns.
What variations of the Gucci 6400L exist?
Among the examples we have handled: case sizes from 21.5mm to 22mm; black, white dials; quartz movements. 2 came with the original box. All of ours have dated to the 1990s.
