What the Gucci 3000L is

The 3000L is a 1990s gold-plated ladies' quartz watch with a black dial and Roman numerals, close in spirit to the 2000L but a touch larger and with a more formal dial. Gucci's case-back sometimes reads 3000.2.L for the later series. The men's version is the 3000M, listed on its own page.

What to check on a vintage Gucci

Gucci's watches of the 1980s and 1990s were made in Switzerland by specialist partners, so the first thing to look for is the case-back: the reference number, "Swiss made" and a serial should all be stamped cleanly, not printed. Plating wears first on the bangle hinge, the case edges and the bracelet clasp, so look there for brassing before anywhere else. Dials should be crisp with even printing; a smudged logo or misaligned index is a warning sign.
