What the Gucci 1900L is
The 1900L is a 1990s ladies' bangle watch in the same family as the 1500L, with a slightly larger square-to-rectangular case sitting on a rigid gold-plated bangle. Most examples carry a plain white or cream dial with the Gucci name and little else, which gives the watch its jewellery-like look; it reads as a bracelet first and a watch second. The movement is Swiss quartz.
It is one of the most searched Gucci references and one of the scarcer ones in good condition, because the bangle finish shows every knock. The listings below note the state of the plating on each example.
What to check on a vintage Gucci
Gucci's watches of the 1980s and 1990s were made in Switzerland by specialist partners, so the first thing to look for is the case-back: the reference number, "Swiss made" and a serial should all be stamped cleanly, not printed. Plating wears first on the bangle hinge, the case edges and the bracelet clasp, so look there for brassing before anywhere else. Dials should be crisp with even printing; a smudged logo or misaligned index is a warning sign.
Every example we sell is inspected, tested and photographed in natural light before it is listed, with any wear described in the listing rather than left for you to find. A fresh battery is fitted to each quartz piece.
Both are 1990s ladies' bangle watches. The 1500L has a narrow rectangular dial on a hinged bangle; the 1900L has a larger, squarer case on a rigid bangle, usually with a plain white or cream dial. The 1900L wears as a bracelet more than a watch.
How much is a Gucci 1900L worth?
The 5 examples we have handled have been priced between £175 and £250. Condition makes the difference: an unpolished case, a crisp original dial and the original box all move a piece towards the top of that range.
Is the Gucci 1900L available to buy?
Not at the moment. The archive on this page shows every example that has passed through our hands, and if you contact us we will look out for the next one on your behalf.
What variations of the Gucci 1900L exist?
Among the examples we have handled: case sizes from 19.5mm to 29mm; white, cream, silver, black dials; quartz movements. All of ours have dated to the 1990s.
