What the euro price includes, and what it does not

The euro price on every watch includes tracked, insured shipping to your country. It does not include your country's import VAT or any customs duty. Since the UK left the EU those are charged when the parcel enters your country and collected by the carrier before delivery, usually with a small handling fee. We declare the real sale value and describe the item accurately, which keeps the process quick and avoids the delays that come with a vague declaration.

It is worth knowing the position rather than being surprised by it. On a typical purchase the VAT is your national rate applied to the value of the watch plus postage, and duty on wristwatches is low or nil in most EU tariff lines. Ask us before you order if you would like a rough figure for your country.

Why buy from London at all? Because the supply is here. Britain imported Swiss and Japanese watches in vast numbers through the twentieth century, has a large collecting scene and produces a steady flow of estate pieces. We buy individual watches, not job lots. Each piece is chosen because the dial, case and movement justify it, then inspected, tested and photographed in natural light in our London studio. Condition is graded honestly from Fair to Mint, and any notable wear is described in plain English in the listing. Quartz watches get a fresh battery; mechanical watches are wound and checked.

The collection centres on 1960s to 1990s Seiko, Tissot, Certina and Raymond Weil, with Swiss dress watches and Gucci fashion pieces from the 1980s and 1990s, and the occasional Omega or Longines at the top of the range. Most of it sits between £100 and £500 in sterling.
